Before you hire anyone

Four things to ask about a stump job.

What happens to the chips. Grinding turns a stump into a pile of wood chips and dirt. We put them back in the hole where the stump was.
Whether the roots come out. Grinding takes the stump below the grass and the roots rot in the ground. Ripping it out brings the root ball up and leaves a hole to fill with dirt.
What is buried near it. Utility lines can run close to a stump. In Illinois a call to 811 gets them marked before anyone digs.
How wet the ground is. A machine on soft ground can rut a lawn. We only work in muddy conditions when you know the lawn could get marked.
